Presentation Topic: A Day in the Life

Speaker: Anthony N. Noto, E.I. – Structural Engineer, Bliss & Nyitray, West Palm Beach, Florida

ABSTRACT:
Structural engineering is a career defined by the balance between technicality and proficiency. Technical skills are the foundation of this career but there are many other aspects that need to be considered. From constructability to profitability, the world of structural engineering goes far beyond what is taught in the classroom. This presentation will provide more information about the overall project process and general design principles. As engineers, we also have a role to serve as protectors of the public and ensure that a structure is adequately constructed for its service life. This presentation will briefly touch on our role as a field representative.

SPEAKER’s Biosketch:
Anthony attended the University of Florida for his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (2019) and his Master of Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering (2021). He worked as a full-time structural engineer and field representative while pursuing his Master’s Degree. Following graduation from UF, he began to work for Bliss & Nyitray Inc. in West Palm Beach. He has been exposed to a wide array of design practices including post tensioned concrete, steel, masonry, and timber. His specialty includes the renovation/retrofit of existing structures and field inspections. He plans on sitting for his S.E. License in October of 2022 and General Contractor’s License in 2023. When he is out of the office, you may find him on the golf course, surfing, rooting for the Gators, or playing guitar at home.
